Visual Merchandising

After three years as the sole visual merchandiser for a prestigious Houston-based nursery, Rachel Reynolds has become a trusted resource for all things visual merchandising, customer experience, and store layout—specifically tailored to garden centers.

With a background in Retail Science from the University of Houston and hands-on experience at Buchanan’s Native Plants, Rachel brings both practical knowledge and a deep passion for storytelling through display. During her time in the industry, she noticed that visual merchandising in garden centers was a niche topic not being fully explored—and saw an opportunity to start the conversation and offer resources that would help garden centers improve their unique store concepts.

Rachel believes that thoughtful merchandising can solidify a store’s unique identity. Creating eye-catching displays, telling stories with products, and building strong, collaborative teams all contribute to a memorable customer experience. Merchandising shapes how people shop, often in ways they don’t even realize—and getting it right can make a world of difference.

Now a full-time, self-employed landscape designer, Rachel continues to consult with garden centers and small businesses, helping them create cohesive and impactful merchandising strategies. She’s currently developing offerings for on-site and virtual consultations, as well as hands-on staff training programs designed to build confidence and boost engagement and sales.

Rachel is dedicated to starting deeper conversations around visual merchandising in the horticulture world. She welcomes the opportunity to hear your thoughts, strategies, and questions—and would love to collaborate in shaping your store’s unique footprint in the nursery industry.

As part of her work with garden center professionals, Rachel is available to group members for customized consultations, tailored resources, and one-on-one support. Whether you’re looking for display ideas, staff training, or a fresh take on store layout, she’s happy to collaborate and create solutions that fit your unique needs.
